Falling in Love, One Line
at a Time
I write about love because it has shaped me. My poetry spans from the age of fifteen to fifty, forming a lifelong collection of love poems that capture the raw, uneven journey of a hopeless romantic. Through years marked by longing, devotion, heartbreak, and fleeting joy, my work reflects the often painful, sometimes joyful, and occasionally hopeful experience of searching for love that never arrives easily.
I have known five great loves in my life. Each arrived in a different form and left a different kind of scar or tenderness behind. The first was true, pained, fleeting, and eventually unrequited — a love that taught me how deeply feeling can plant itself in silence. The loves that followed revealed other truths: love that burns brightly and fades, love that transforms, love that wounds, and love that lingers long after it has ended.
My poems are acts of witness — to devotion without return, to hope that survives disappointment, and to the quiet resilience of the heart that continues to believe. I write not to idealise love, but to honour it as it is lived: imperfect, aching, luminous, and never wasted.
